Welcome Center Guest Services Associate

Position: Part-Time Guest Services Associate (8-29 hours/week)
Summary: Join our team in a vibrant travel environment, engaging with visitors and promoting the Central Coast. We seek a friendly individual with excellent communication skills, comfortable in engaging with diverse travelers. Availability for shifts between 9:45 AM and 6:30 PM, including weekends and weekdays, is essential.
Objective: Equip visitors with valuable information about California, with a focus on San Luis Obispo County, by leveraging training from Visit California and Visit SLO CAL and partnerships with local businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide up-to-date, accurate information and recommendations to visitors in-person, via phone, and email.
- Independently manage daily operations of the Welcome Center with minimal supervision.
- Maintain inventory of promotional materials and ensure the center is well-stocked.
- Contribute to social media content and other promotional activities to highlight the region.
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses to enhance visitor experiences.
- Represent the Welcome Center at relevant events and meetings.
- Perform additional tasks as needed, including community calendar management and partner support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- Approachable, with an outgoing personality.
- Ability to multi-task and work with diverse groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and similar software.
- Experience in tourism or hospitality is a plus.
Qualities:
- A welcoming demeanor and enthusiasm for promoting the Central Coast.
- Team player mindset.
Compensation: $16.00 - $17.50 per hour, with a flexible schedule. Availability for weekend shifts is required, though not every weekend.
