Anyone who is an avid coffee drinker can tell you that their first cup of java in the morning can almost feel like a warm visit with a good friend. The aroma of a freshly brewed cup of coffee seems to magically create a certain ambiance that beckons us to slow down for a moment and simply breathe... breathe in the day ahead and all we have on our “to do” list.
Can anyone else relate to this awesome experience? According to the statistics, there are 2.25 BILLION cups of coffee consumed each day! WOW! Yes, there are definitely a few of you out there that relate to my delicious morning ritual...LOL...
Jack and Jill Quint, the owners and operators of DELTINA COFFEE ROASTERS, with two locations in Oceano and San Luis Obispo cherish our love of coffee!
They know firsthand what it takes to create a business solely dedicated to providing their community the most authentic and tasty cup of coffee possible. Jack and Jill (yes, their real names...LOL) are both CPAs by trade, but always knew that one day they wanted to start up a family business. With five children in tow and their family values as the centerpiece of their lives, they also recognized that it would have to be something they were both equally passionate about.
Fate stepped in and plotted its course and soon its rutters steered them toward a dream they could have never imagined would become a reality. Shortly after a visit in 2019 to Jack’s Uncle’s family-owned coffee roasting operation in Washington, a spark of interest turned into a flame of passion to open their own family coffee roasting company! That seemingly ordinary trip to visit family became the catalyst for a life-changing decision, that in time would come to bless our entire Central Coast community.
Like a beautiful blend of the rarest of coffee beans, Deltina Coffee Roasters originated from a sweet combination of nostalgic memories of time on a family farm; familiar scents of raw coffee beans being roasted to perfection and an internal call that both Jack and Jill felt to create a space and place for their family and their community to gather and enjoy one of life’s simple pleasures...a flavorful cup of coffee!
The fact the LOVE OF COFFEE and its brewing practices have been a part of our world’s culture since the 15th Century and was even eaten as source of food in Ethiopia as far back as 575AD, is profound, to say the least.
Jack and Jill are also very rare in the way they personally invest in their raw coffee bean inventory. Each variety of beans that arrives at their cafe is still in its natural colorful green state, which are mindfully sourced from sustainable farms and are carefully selected to meet the pallet demands of their consumers. Their integrity is stellar from the point of delivery to the onsite roasting and brewing process, which I believe truly sets them apart from other traditional coffee shop experiences.
The major difference Jill states is this, “We are not just baristas who brew a preblended and prepackaged product from a warehouse. We are a coffee roasting operation certified organic by the CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) who have the capability of hand roasting a unique blend of beans to perfection and then freshly brewing a specialty coffee drink that no one else can make.”The proof is in their finished product, which hits your taste buds like a title wave of pure delight.
FOR THE LOVE OF COFFEE, I, too, start my day with a warm cup of java wrapped around my hand, sipping it slowly as if each drop was the last one. But after my in-depth conversation with the Quint family, I now have a deeper understanding of the difference between a traditional coffee shop and a coffee roasting company. It comes down to the details and personal touch. To know that they literally hand pick the beans that will be roasted for their customers to enjoy, shows a definite heartfelt appreciation for their customer and for all those who grow these precious pearls (as they are known in some Eastern countries) throughout the world.
Over the years, Jack's exposure to his uncle’s coffee operation has honed his skills in selecting coffee beans and mastering the art of blending varietals, ensuring each cup meets their high-quality standards.
