The event brought together community leaders and service organizations to share insights, updates, and initiatives that make a positive impact in our region. Here are the highlights from our esteemed speakers:

- Eldercare consulting for advocacy and family mediation.

County of San Luis Obispo
Supervisor Jimmy Paulding and Supervisor Dawn Ortiz-Legg provided updates on county initiatives. Their leadership highlights a collaborative approach to tackling complex community challenges.
SLO County Supervisor Jimmy Paulding has demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing homelessness through innovative and collaborative approaches. One notable initiative involved partnering with Santa Barbara County and the City of Santa Maria to successfully clean up homeless encampments in the Santa Maria riverbed, enhancing public safety and restoring the area.
Additionally, the Supervisor has been working closely with the 7 cities in the county to develop a regional Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on homelessness. This groundbreaking effort aims to foster cooperation and shared resources among local governments, ensuring a more unified and effective response to this critical issue.
The 5Cities Homeless Coalition showcased their efforts to combat homelessness through a combination of resources, support, and hope. Notable achievements include:
- The "Cabins for Change" program and other shelter initiatives helped 76 individuals graduate to stable housing.
- Rapid re-housing and eviction prevention programs assisting hundreds of households with financial support.
- Youth-focused programs that secure housing and employment opportunities for unaccompanied young individuals.
They also announced the opening of a new warming center in Arroyo Grande, located at 1023 E. Grand Avenue, across from Mechanics Bank. This center will provide a safe and warm space for individuals during inclement weather, opening when forecasts predict temperatures of 38°F or below or a 50% chance of rain.
Notifications about openings can be received by texting "Add Me" to 805-295-1501 or emailing info@5CHC.org. This vital resource demonstrates a continued commitment to supporting the most vulnerable members of our community.
