Root, root, root for the home team! Do you have that song stuck in your head yet? I hope so! I just couldn’t resist engaging your sense of team spirit as I prepare to highlight my next local business and its owners. What is it about rooting for our home team that exudes such warmth in our hearts and a natural desire to support their efforts? I believe one key factor is knowing that their hard work will have a positive impact on our community.  

It’s that Iron Sharpens Iron effect!  

The only thing better than being the one who creates that kind of synergy is having a front row seat to your team’s success. Today I had the privilege of getting to interview one of our local success stories. Aaron and Kayla Gutierrez are the new owners of Flooring Concepts, Inc., with a location in San Luis Obispo and a secondary showroom in Morro Bay.  

Though the Flooring Concepts name is very familiar to the central coast, the ownership is now in the capable hands of the very personable and ambitious Aaron Gutierrez. In August 2024, he confidently stepped up to the plate with this new endeavor and plans to knock it out of the park when it comes to customer service! He humbly shared how he became the owner of these two thriving establishments here on our breathtaking central coast. With an abundance of support from family, staff and community, Aaron’s journey will undoubtedly be filled with many friendly faces of loyal customers.   

Born in Nipomo, Aaron has always had a deep love and appreciation for San Luis Obispo County. From an early age he acquired ambition beyond his years and was determined to make his mark on the world as a hard-working local businessman. Little did he know that at the ripe old age of 33, he would become the owner of two very reputable and well-known flooring stores in San Luis Obispo County, a role that he feels extremely fortunate to have. 

They say life is our greatest teacher and that we are truly blessed when our family members are our greatest examples of how to live an integral life. Aaron proudly says the mentorship he received throughout his life from coaches, teachers and family members gave him the core values he has today. Exposed to the plumbing trade by his dad and grandfather as a young boy and later introduced to the flooring trade by his stepdad, he quickly learned the value of hard work. These industrious men were instrumental in shaping his outstanding work ethic as he worked side by side with them throughout his formative years. Through their daily mentoring and sharing of business practices and personal wisdom, they instilled in him the confidence he now carries as he continues the legacy of the Flooring Concept Companies in San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay.  

TURNING DREAMS INTO REALITY is Aaron’s motto and it is what inspires him to serve his customers and staff alike each day. That’s right …. even his staff or as Aaron calls them ...his WINNING TEAM, receives Aaron’s full commitment to excellence.  

You can literally feel the sincere comradery as you see them all working together as a team to serve each customer with kindness and consideration. The common thread they all share is their commitment to treating each customer as if they were a member of their own family. Office Assistant Deb Geaslen and her husband Tom have been instrumental in turning his dream of owning the Flooring Concepts Company into an amazing REALITY!  

No tribute of support would be complete for Aaron without the recognition of his faithful wife Kayla. He boldly shared with me, "It has been her love, encouragement and support that has been my driving force, and she is the one true constant in my life. No one has ever believed in me more, championed my ideas and truly loved me unconditionally more than Kayla.”  

Wow! Those heartfelt words not only paint an uplifting picture of his winning team at the Flooring Concept shop, but it's also wonderful to know that Aaron has a cheering section at home, ready to celebrate his victories and offer authentic pep talks along the way!  

It was just three short years ago that Aaron Guiterrez was hired as the store manager of Flooring Concepts. He quickly made it his mission to glean decades of wisdom and knowledge from his predecessors, so that one day he could put those insights into practice like a well-oiled machine. Aaron is living proof that dreams really can come true! With his core values of Faith, Family, and Community as his guiding principles, Aaron is well-equipped for success. The exceptional customer service that he consistently delivers is what makes Flooring Concepts a home run choice for anyone seeking quality flooring and window covering products, all delivered in a timely manner.
