Monthly update from Mayor Ed Waage, City of Pismo Beach
Once again, we will be having fireworks on the pier for the 4th of July. We also have food and music this year again on the pier to watch up close for those who bought tickets (which sold out quickly). We expect thousands to view from the beach and other vantage points throughout the City. Note, that the City has an ordinance forbidding fireworks, and we will have extra fire marshals enforcing the ban.
Sunday, July 9, is the next Pacific Breeze concert in Dinosaur Caves Park starting at 1 pm. This time the music is provided by Dante Marsh and the Vibe Setters. Kid’s activities and food are available.
We are making progress on our General Plan/Local Coastal Plan update. We have been having joint meetings between our Council and Planning Commission to iron out details. Staff is working and pulling together the various planning elements and other documents for presentation to the Planning Commission and then the Council later this year.
At our last Council meeting, we chose the final exterior design for our new police and fire stations. We will consider the final go ahead at our July 18 meeting. We are also planning temporary quarters for police and fire during the transition.
