GOODNESS GRACIOUS….

I could almost hear the words coming out of the mouth of the Kiwanis of Greater Pismo Beach member as he was asked boldly and respectfully to pay a $10 fine to the Kangaroo Court Judge and reigning Club President Mike Britton. Apparently, it is an unofficial crime to have one’s phone ring when a guest is delivering a presentation. The fine doubles when it’s the host of the guest. LOL. The Club considers it ill-mannered and have NO problem keeping one another accountable for this high standard of conduct. Now we all know that in real life no one gets fined for their phone unexpectedly ringing during a meeting. But, for the members of this Kiwanis Club …this cheeky monetary fine is merely a symbol of the LEVEL of INTEGRITY and SOCIAL CONSIDERATION that they hold each other to. One week ago, Tom Parsons, who is a faithful member of the club, invited me to be a speaker at their weekly meeting, held at Franscisco’s Country Kitchen almost every Tuesday. I was familiar with the GOOD work and stellar reputation of the Kiwanis Club to support children and their needs. I was equally enamored by the intention of the hearts of the men and women associated with this wonderful organization. Each conversation I heard revolved around ways to create revenue to invest in the areas most needed for our local kids and beyond. Though the fellowship was palpable in the room, the mission of WHY they were gathering each week was even more pronounced. Later that week President Mike Britton took the time to share some of the structure of the organization. Essentially it has a President, VP, treasurer and secretary, and an 8-member Board of Directors. This business model assures the highest level of accountability to each Kiwanis Club within the District. Originally created by businessmen to trade and share resources, it soon became a means to support families by caring for the most at risk …their children. Our Kiwanis of Greater Pismo Beach has been serving its community since 1956!  As you speak to the members, they proudly raise the Kiwanis motto like a banner which encompasses the GOODNESS of humanity…
“WE ARE DEDICATED TO IMPROVING THE WORLD ONE CHILD AT A TIME! “

I believe the ongoing work that the Kiwanis Club does is an essential part of why we still experience GOODNESS and GRACIOUSNESS in our world today. To see these men and women dedicate themselves to raising funds and serving their communities for these precious little ones is inspiring! When I asked Mike what compels him to stay so committed to the Kiwanis Club year after year, dedicating so much time, energy and resources to the Club? His answer made my heart skip a beat. “We simply do it for the kids, it’s all about them. “

Both the men and women who serve in the Kiwanis Club have a very special thing in common. They love and value each child that God so GRACIOUSLY made. They also believe it is our responsibility as a community to contribute to the development by utilizing the resources available to us. At the end of the day, it will be our intentional investment in our children that will make it possible for them to become caring and thoughtful individuals, who then can LEAD US into a brighter tomorrow! Please consider giving to this wonderful.

I want to personally thank the Kiwanis Club International Organization for being shining stars in our communities. Thank you, Kiwanis of Greater Pismo Beach, for all you do for the Central Coast!
GOODNESS GRACIOUS…...YOUR POSITIVE INFLUENCE MAKES A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE! 😊
