Welcome to Leadership South County Class VI!
The South County Chambers of Commerce is thrilled to kick off another year of leadership development with Class VI of Leadership South County. This remarkable group of 22 participants embarks on a transformative journey spanning the next ten months—a program designed to challenge, inspire, and empower our region's future leaders.
Led by the expert facilitators at CultureStoke and Bee Kind Consulting Co., Leadership South County is more than just a program—it’s an investment in the future of our community. Each year, participants dive deep into critical topics affecting our region, forging connections and building skills that will leave a legacy for years to come.
Why Leadership South County Matters
The Leadership South County program exists to cultivate leaders with diverse perspectives who can work collaboratively to tackle the opportunities and challenges unique to San Luis Obispo and Northern Santa Barbara Counties. It fosters personal and professional growth while creating a network of individuals dedicated to improving the quality of life in our community.
By connecting participants from different industries and backgrounds, the program encourages a broader understanding of our region and its needs, helping leaders develop skills to unite efforts across sectors. From environmental sustainability to economic development, the program equips participants with the tools to drive meaningful change.
What to Expect in Class VI
Leadership South County is a ten-month leadership development program that combines learning, action, and community engagement. Participants will experience:
- A Two-Day Leadership Retreat: An immersive introduction to the program, focusing on foundational leadership principles and creating bonds within the group.
- Nine Leadership Development Days: Monthly sessions covering essential leadership skills paired with hands-on experiences such as field trips, behind-the-scenes tours, and discussions with local leaders.
This year’s curriculum is packed with engaging sessions on leadership topics, including:
- Purpose, vision, and values
- Goal setting and execution
- Effective communication
- Leading change
- Diversity and inclusion
- Leadership mindset and habits
Each session is carefully designed to inspire personal growth, enhance teamwork, and provide actionable insights participants can apply immediately in their careers and communities.
A Focus on Our Community
Leadership South County isn’t just about personal development—it’s also about deepening participants’ connections to our region. Throughout the program, participants will explore key focus areas such as:
- Business and manufacturing
- Arts and education
- Recreation and tourism
- Housing and development
- Wine and agriculture
- Environmental sustainability
- Nonprofit organizations

Leaving a Legacy
One of the hallmarks of Leadership South County is the Legacy Project. Each class collaborates on a community-focused initiative designed to address a pressing need or seize an opportunity that enhances life in our region. Past projects have included everything from public art installations to community service initiatives and resource development efforts.
Class VI is already buzzing with ideas for how they can make an impact. With the support of facilitators, mentors, and fellow participants, this year's class is poised to leave their mark while strengthening the foundation of leadership in our community.
