This month’s Leadership South County day topic was Art & Education and how it looks in South County!
Class V heard from many guest speakers including Dr. James Brescia, Superintendent for SLO County Office of Education, Paul Fawcett, Superintendent of LMUSD, Brianna Deveraux-Allen, Creative Director of Flex Performing Arts and Matt Barcus, Band Director at AGHS.

Agriculture day for Class V was vastly educational! It’s always so great to visit and hear from Bejo Seeds USA in Oceano. Our day started with leadership development on Effective Communication by CultureStoke, followed by Tom Ikeda with Ikeda Brothers on farming in South County. Class V then headed to the SLO Farm Bureau and heard from Executive Director Paul Clark and Jean-Pierre Wolff of Wolff Vineyards.
Agriculture is a huge industry in our south county area and we are grateful to learn from a spectrum of providers and businesses!
2024 Leadership South County Class V – May Recap
Last month, our class learned about the impacts the tourism industry has in our south county area.
We started the day with CultureStoke and some great insight on the rollercoaster of life. Don’t forget: “If you don’t ask for help, you deny others the opportunity and gift of being able to help.“ Our day followed with guest speakers from many different sectors including hotels, events, marketing and wine!

Leadership South County Class V has officially kicked off the day session program starting with Health & Wellness at the Matthew Will Memorial Building in Arroyo Grande. Thank you to our Encourage Sponsor, Dignity Health, for hosting us! The class started with an exploration into our Enneagram numbers with Allison Priola from the Priola Group, and followed with guest speakers from the AG Hospital Foundation, 5cities Homeless Coalition, SLO County Behavioral Health and Avila Bay Athletic Club.
